Duane Allman did not own a van. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1971, at the age of 24.
The Allman Brothers Band did own a van, however, which they used to tour in the early 1970s. The van was a white 1969 Dodge A-100 Sportsman, and it was nicknamed “The Merry Pranksters Bus” after the psychedelic counterculture group of the same name.
The van was often featured in the band’s album art and promotional materials, and it became a symbol of the Allman Brothers Band’s free-spirited and adventurous lifestyle.
In 2014, the van was restored and donated to the Big House Museum, a museum dedicated to the Allman Brothers Band in Macon, Georgia. The van is now on display at the museum, where fans can learn about its history and see it up close.
